The English Osservatorio

Independent reporting on the Italian real estate market — written for international buyers, owners, and professionals. Free, monthly, no advertising

What you’ll receive

Each issue takes about five minutes to read and covers

  • The numbers — prices, yields, transaction volumes for the Italian regions our readers care most about. All cited.
  • The analysis — one deeper take per issue, on a region, an asset class, a regulatory change, or a structural market shift.
  • Policy & legal updates for international buyers — visa changes, tax-residency shifts, the 7% retiree regime, short-let regulation. The things that change while you’re not watching.
  • Reading list — three pieces from the international press worth your time. Always at least one non-English source.

Cadence and format

he English Osservatorio is published monthly, with breaking-news dispatches sent only when material regulatory or market changes warrant immediate attention. Typical issue: 1,000–1,300 words, 5–7 minute read.

Once a quarter we ship a longer Quarterly Osservatorio as a downloadable PDF — a structured 30+ page review of the previous quarter, free to subscribers. Distributed in late March, June, September and December.

Who it’s for

The English Osservatorio is written for non-Italian readers with a real stake in Italian property: prospective buyers from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands; current owners managing their property remotely; relocation advisors and immigration lawyers serving international clients; institutional investors with Italian exposure.

If you’re researching whether to buy, you’ll probably get more from our Buying Guide first — the cornerstone articles cover taxes, the notary process, residency, mortgages and the regional decision in depth. The newsletter is what keeps you current after you’ve read the guide.

Our editorial principles

Independent. We don’t sell property listings. We don’t take agency commissions. We don’t publish sponsored content inside editorial sections. Our recommendations are not influenced by who pays us, because nobody does.

Cited. Every number we publish is cited. Our primary sources are official Italian: the OMI / Agenzia delle Entrate, ISTAT, Banca d’Italia, the Gazzetta Ufficiale, and direct company filings.

Reviewed. Tax, legal, immigration and mortgage content is reviewed by a qualified Italian professional — a commercialista, notary, lawyer or licensed broker — named on each piece.

Sponsorships and advertising

From Q4 2026, we may include a single clearly-labeled sponsor placement per issue, kept structurally separate from editorial content. For information: partnerships@realestate.it.
